Fire-resistant facade curtains against fire spread
Fire can spread through façade openings to a higher floor or the building next door. Regulations therefore set WBDBO requirements. Façade curtains close those openings automatically on alarm.
When is facade protection mandatory?
Between fire compartments and between buildings at close range, a fire-spread resistance (WBDBO) requirement applies, usually of 30 or 60 minutes. If a facade opening cannot meet it — for instance at loading docks, large glazed fronts or buildings close to the plot boundary — a fire curtain is often the most practical way to comply after all.
Outdoor application: wind, weather and operation
Outdoor conditions differ from indoor ones: wind, moisture and temperature changes. Facade curtains are therefore fitted with wind-resistant guides and materials that withstand outdoor use. We assess the wind load for each situation and advise on positioning, operation and maintenance.
From advice to handover
Every facade project starts with a site survey. This is followed by engineering and made-to-measure production, installation by a specialised dealer and handover with certificate and test documentation — so you can demonstrate to authorities and insurers that the facade meets the requirements.
